Olive church

The Melkite Greek Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of the Dormition in Damascus is the seat of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archdiocese of Damascus. The church dates back to the founding of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in the Levant, which began in Damascus. Among the Christian inhabitants of Damascus, it is known as the Church of the Olive Trees, due to the abundance of olive trees that once stood in its courtyard.
