The Forty Church of a martyr

The Cathedral of the Forty Martyrs of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Aleppo, Syria, dates back to the 16th century and was expanded in 1916 by the Armenian notable Bedros during the reign of Sultan IV. The church houses a distinctive and unique collection of icons dating from the Renaissance period, some belonging to the Aleppo School of Iconography. Among the most famous of these is the Last Judgment icon painted by Father Nimatullah ibn Father Youssef. Other icons include those of Saint George, the Baptism of Christ, and the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus, alongside Saint Joseph and John the Baptist, as well as other depictions of the Forty Martyrs.
