Omar Khayyam Hotel

Omar Khayyam (Umayya) Hotel was built and inaugurated in 1927 and was then called Umayya Hotel. It was the largest and most luxurious hotel and the tallest building in Damascus. It was equipped with the first electric elevator in Syria and coal-fired steam heating boilers to receive and host delegations, presidents, and kings during the French occupation.
