Hama Citadel

It is one of the oldest castles in Syria, located on a large assembly hill on the West Bank of the Orontes. The site dates back to the fifth thousand before the birth, as it was home to the Kingdom of Hamath. Throughout the ages, the castle witnessed many changes and fortifications, from the Seleucid and Romans, and the Islamic conquests under the leadership of Abu Ubaidah bin Al -Jarrah. Although it was destroyed after several seals and attacks, including the Mongols, it was rebuilt during the era of the Ayyubids and Al -Zahir Baybars.
